Bessan Amer

Bessan is a thoughtful student who is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Neuroscience at Carleton University under the supervision of Dr. Robyn McQuaid and Dr. Amy Bombay (Carleton University). Her project explores language knowledge and how this can affect the mental health of people and communities.

Bessan received her Bachelor of Science Honours in Neuroscience and Mental Health at Carleton University. In her 4th year, Bessan completed her Honours thesis with Dr. Paul Villeneuve (Carleton University) by conducting a meta-analysis studying the effects of different statin medications on Parkinson's disease. During this time, Bessan was also an active volunteer in the McQuaid Lab.

Outside of school, she loves playing basketball, going on bike rides, and eating new types of food. She also enjoys volunteering within her own community to spread awareness and educate people on Palestine.
